James Harman was SMOKIN' in San Francisco last weekend! Killer band too. Don't miss 'em when they roll your way. (All the California natives are out on tour tho...missed Candye Kane at Monterey Blues Fest by ONE day.)

Also keep your eyes peeled for the Gulf benefit on tour in the next few weeks: Tab & a bunch of other LA folks...Sounds like it'll be a blast!

XPN festival over 3 days...highlights
Alejandro Escovedo and the Sensitive Boys...rocked it HARD!!!
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals...getting better every year. news song rock, she and the band really are all energy on stage. always a fun set
Harper Blynn from NY...great vocals and songs. sort of a BeeGees who rock hard :D
Nicole Atkins set was great
Yo La Tengo brought out the Sun Ra Orkestra and mayhem ensued..totally wild
Rosanne Cash...half the set was List songs. great performance and tight band
Felice Brothers...more wild and drunken without Simon...I liked them better with Simon
Dawes...OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cowboy Junkies...great songs, but poor festival performance. band was sitting and no energy at all
Edward Shapre and the Magnetic Zeros.....absolutly fun group of hippies. but underneath the craziness and freedom of the vocalists, the band gave the appearance of being loosy-goosey, but damn they were tight as a drum. Great set and a fun time
Holmes Brothers...nothing more needs to be said about them
Dr.Dog - Philly rockers
The Great Unknown - actually some friends of mine. Fine folk/rock ala Wilco, etc.
hot, but great 3 days/night

Was at a really great one day festival Sunday...first year, free, noon till 10 pm. Mostly local/regional bands, but every one was different. Had frineds playing in 3 bands, so a no brainer to go, lol
Folk rock group first, then some older guys doing Jimmy Buffet-type songs "The Mango Men". a fun set. a Reagae/rock band, a pure old style Celtic group, a more rock/folk group, a bluegrass band, a young (under 16) metal band who blew the place apart (one of their dads played in some European hair band back in the day, so the kids did all the moves, etc). a great blues band. father and son, a indie/acid rock band which was awesome fun, and Slo-Mo headlined (hip-hop/country/rock with a lap steel).
Each band was so different that the crowd was riveted to all the acts. Fun day and night
